  • Mount and blade: Warband is a 1st/3rd person rpg game with real time events that can randomly occur throughout the time that you play the game,You can also buy and run properties such as mills, taverns and even become your own caravan where you can buy materials that are abundant within that kingdom and trade them within another which has not got much of that product making it worth more to sell within that specific place.

This is not the only thing that is great about this game as you can build your army with specific companions who have their own stories to tell, but there are also ‘peasants’ and warriors who you can pay to become your followers and you pay them weekly and need to keep them well fed to keep the moral high. If you dont do this they will leave you or rebel back at you. You can slowly build up your followers level to fit there specific roles as if they are good with archery you can pay to upgrade them to be better archers or crossbowmen if they are good with two handed swords or one handed swords they will have more strength.

You can also customise what your named companions have equipped just as you can do with your own character as if they are well equipped then they can fight better and have less of a chance of dying or being wounded or knocked unconscious this applies to your character too as if he/she is knocked out by a enemy then you will be taken and all of your followers will disappear so you need to be careful entering fights which you know you might have a chance of losing in.

When looking at other parties that travel around the world your in, you can see what faction they are from also you can see what type of soldiers they have and what type that is within the party. Different factions of civil communities that have no effect with the lords, kings and ladies reputation of you if you kill these if you help a certain faction within a war or fight that will effect what the lords will think.

Side quests are a big part of this game an you can get many from any of the capital castles from people within a tavern or from the guild masters or even the lord/ladies who run the cities. There are not really main quests in this game until you choose a faction you want to help and eventually make yourself become king or queen of Calradia the more reputation you have and the more you are known throughout the land by people the more you might get hunted by looters or certain factions.

You need to be constantly doing quests to earn money to keep up your army if you have a large one but if you have a smaller one you can have more time to explore and take on smaller tasks. Another way to keep earning money is buying and selling products to other cities and also buying property for people to work and get you money as the more you earn and the more you buy the bigger the army you can have.

Mount and blade has a amazing battle sequence when just even in a small scale battle, When you get into besieging castles and building siege weapons it becomes even more of a strategy game and making certain followers that you have in your armies in certain groups so that they are easier to control and order, the fighting is also well done with horse riding and the physics of the bolts, arrows and other throwable items feel heavy but you can still get a good hit from afar and the scale of the area you are fighting in is quite large so using a bow, javelin or crossbow can be good from quite far away.

There are also a lot of different places you fight in when in random battles, and when you find a outpost of a group of bandits it can be set in many different places and depending on the time it can set different events that can happen, even within a city you can get attacked by people who are looking to kill you.

The difficulty settings on mount an blade can vary as you can increase the battle size, if you have automatic block direction on the level of the combat on the AI and the level of damage that is dealt to you and the amount of friendly fire damage you can deal as if you hit your own follower enough you can kill them. There are also some little things that have been added to this game such as voice commands, damage reports, overall world report on when factions have declared war and when fights have happened.

There are also alot of little things that you can learn in this game to develop your character such as poems, read books and this is all small additions that make the game feel even more in depth just as when your named followers have arguments or agreements and come to talk to you about that thing and you can learn more about how a character acts and how they might act within a certain situation. You can also get married in this game to a lord or lady depending on your gender this can help you gain money and help you with your reputation with the faction that person is from.
