Party Hard Review

Party Hard was published by Tiny Build Games and Developed by Pinokl Games, previously released on steam is now available for the Xbox One ‘In Party Hard, you play as someone who is really tired of the neighbors having loud parties. Instead of calling the police, you decide it’s a better idea to kill everyone – using your faithful knife and the environment. The tactical strategy follows a series of killings at parties through-ought the USA.’

This is one of those games you can’t put down, before playing i didn’t think Party Hard would be up to the hype, i’d spoken to a few friends who were ranting and raving about the steam version and how addictive it can be but also soul destroying when you’re down to your last 4 victims and get busted! With a love of stealth games i took the plunge and offered to review party hard.

Party Hard delivers 19 unique levels of serial killing mayhem! in each level you’ll have to figure out unique ways of killing the victims within random variation for said level, you can poison the punch bowl or beer keg, set certain traps off i.e gumball machines and bear traps and my favorite the stealth stabbing, each character has his/hers own special ability to choose from:

The guy who wants to get some sleep. – can stab, pick up bodies/sleeping victims and use traps situated throughout the levels, this character can also dispose of bodies in bins etc

The ninja who is fast, stealthy, has a smoke bomb, but shouldn’t be seen. – has unlimited smoke bombs which can blind victims and make for easy pickings

The cop who can carry around bodies without suspicion, and frame other people. – this character can be useful but sadly can’t use any traps, you can stab a victim and instantly press B to pick them up then dispose of them without alerting anybody at the party

The girl who can knock people out. – she basically has the same capabilities as the guy who wants to get some sleep, a decent character to use!

The butcher who has a chainsaw. – special chainsaw capability’s to mow through the party although i found him difficult to remain stealth using this character

The story-line for Party Hard follows a detective following a serial killer dubbed the Party Hard killer in a not so serious story throughout the USA with some tongue and cheek mixed in, for example a bear could turn up and start killing people or the butcher character, I’ve also had a army looking character turn up randomly and when I’ve “made a call” who has protected me when the police have tried to arrest me, you can’t kill the police when they are attempting to arrest you but you can set off an “accident” when they are in the party running around looking at bodies or arresting other party guests! The retro dance music playing throughout the game was a nice touch i actually enjoyed having it turned up loud, i usually turn all background music off when playing games but it was well received on this occasion!
