Pinball FX 2, Star Wars Pinball: The Force Awakens DLC Review

star wars the force awakens pinball main

Developed by Zen Studios, Star Wars Pinball: The Force Awakens DLC contains two tables based on the hit movie of the same name and features Music, Sounds and art from the film. Both tables have very different looks to each other, with “The Force Awakens” seemingly more on the light side of the force, while “Might of the First Order” is more about the dark side.

The Force Awakens Table follows events from the recently released movie. The table features 12 modes based on scenes from the movie, these can be started one after another and are more or less completed by shooting the lit lanes. Modes also stay active even after losing a ball which is a nice touch. Some other modes of note are BB-8 Escape in which you control BB-8 around a small playfield avoiding capture from the falling nets, Freighter Madness features a freighter that docks on the table, players then have to shoot the target that appears to score. And finally Attack of the Rathtars will have you fighting against three appearing monsters if you hit the tentacles on the table enough times.

Visually, The Force Awakens table is probably one of the best looking tables available for Pinball FX 2, lots of moving bits and pieces and nice animations that capture the planet of Jakku nicely. The music and sounds are right out of the movie so no complaints there. Plenty of modes to keep you engaged and coming back for more. The Force Awakens seems like the easier table of the two.

Might of the First Order table puts players in command of the First Order, with a complete different look and feel to the other table, it is equally as impressive with multiple modes to keep you occupied and its mini playing field under the glass directly in the center of the table. This can be confusing at first but you will get used to it as you will find yourself in here quite often as the sink hole to access it is quite open on the left side of the table. I couldnt really pick out any stand out modes for this table other than the multiball, which is started using the afore mentioned mini playing field.

Again the visuals are what you would expect, that distinct clean metal look of the First Order / Imperial Army, lots of animations across the table With all the sounds to boot as mentioned above, right out of the movie. Might of the First Order seems the more difficult of the two tables.

Star Wars Pinball: The Force Awakens pack captures the latest Star Wars movie of the same name and fits it into a pinball table like only Zen Studios could, Perfectly. Two tables that encompass both sides of the force and are immediately recognisable as so. excellent value for money at £3.99 which when broken down makes them the cheapest Star Wars tables available for Pinball FX 2.
