Mega Coin Squad is the first game for Xbox One by Big Pixel Studios, and published by Adult Swim Games. It features a single player and local multiplayer mode for upto 4 players. With 5 characters to choose from, each with their own ability set so players can pick the character that best suits their play style.

Mega Coin Squad is an 8bit style platform game in which players have to complete ever evolving levels by collecting the target amount of coins and drop them into the giant piggy bank that is located somewhere on the level. each level also has 3 bonus objectives for players to complete. Completing the extra objectives earns the player a diamond with a maximum of 3 per level, which can be redeemed for bonus power ups, upgrades and weapon drops. That’s right, Mega Coin Squad not only features the classic jumping on enemy heads to kill them, you can also get your hands on an array of weapons to help you on your adventure.

Visually the game is crisp bright and colourful, there’s not much else you can say about 8bit graphics really. and the same for goes for the sound track. It is fitting for the gameplay and visuals alike. Mega Coin Squad also features some nice achievements, some simple and some that will have you tearing your hair out. Sadly the multplayer mode is a little bit of a let down, without the inclusion of online multiplayer there will be a few who just won’t entertain it. Each playable character has their own “story” coupled with the bonus objectives mentioned earlier, Mega Coin Squad has quite a decent replay value, it will definitely keep the completionists out there coming back for more as well as having the pick-up and play appeal.
